Two San Jose Women Arrested For Allegedly Stabbing Man, Dumping Body

San Jose Police Department officials say they've arrested two women in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man in August. Authorities allege the women later hid the body in a ravine in unincorporated Alameda County, where a motorist eventually discovered it.

The Mercury News reports that a subsequent autopsy revealed that the man had been repeatedly stabbed, prompting a homicide investigation. The identity of the deceased man, who was found along a rural road near Livermore on Aug. 25, has not been released pending the coroner's ability to notify next of kin.

During the ensuing investigation, authorities say they honed in on a suspicious vehicle that traveled from the victim's home to the location where his body was later found.

As SFist previously reported, the San Jose Sheriff's Office quickly determined that the stabbing took place at the victim's home — an apartment complex on North Seventh Street in San Jose, about 40 miles away from the dump site — and held suspicions that he was killed by someone who knew him.

Now their investigation has led them to arrest two San Jose residents: 55-year-old Veronica Rangel and 22-year-old Alexia Nieves Solache. Both were booked into Santa Clara County's Main Jail earlier this week on suspicion of murder.

Per the Mercury News, public records show Rangel was living at the complex where the victim was killed and that she shares family ties with Solache. In a coordinated effort, Rangel was arrested by Los Angeles authorities at her home in Lawndale on Tuesday on the same day police arrested Rangel in San Jose.

The fatal stabbing marks the 24th homicide investigated by San Jose police the year. At the same point in 2025, San Jose had recorded 23 homicides.

Earlier this year, SFist reported on the sordid saga of Anila Baby. At present, the 32-year-old suspect is facing trial for the killings of Anjana Hari in Milipitas and Ann Mary Mathew in San Jose. Both died on the same day and were known to be friends of Baby.

Legal proceedings in that case were recently paused to allow for Baby to have her mental competence evaluated by psychiatrists in Santa Clara County.
